I like goals. They give structure to my life and they awaken my imagination. My goal this year is to make a piece of jewelry a day, five days a week. Rather than a challenge, this is a gift that will help me go deeper into each idea and explore designs I’ve had for years. After six years as a jeweler, I know that my best work comes from working. I am exited to see the posibilities that will open up along the way. We are the fortunate ones. We get to experience this planet in all its beauty. We can discover natural landscapes, swim in clear waters, eat fresh fruit. We can savor handmade corn tortillas, gaze at blue skies, and walk through fields of flowers. We are the fortunate ones. Majestic ring. Handmade with natural turquoise and 100% recycled sterling silver. Soon in my online shop. Creature. Fossil. Critter. Crawler. Where did you come from, ladybird? Seeing you reminds me to always trust my instincts. Whenever I get away from my work for more than a week, I tend to forget how powerful my imagination is. I have a short term memory when it comes to creativity. Being away for too long makes me feel alienated. Voiceless. Restrained. But when I grab a hammer and silver, I come back to life. Something in me explodes with ideas. A path appears. I remember who I am, and what I am capable of. I recover my voice, and this keeps me coming back. There you are! The spark. The enthusiasm. The clarity. I just finished adding the biggest update to my online shop on Etsy since I began this website two years ago. You can now find all of the silver ink drawings from the 100 Days 100 Drawings series; collages; paintings from the Atlas series; one-of-kind sterling silver jewelry; and my brass jewelry cast collection. A tree produces resin to heal and protect it. If I could write a letter to my 30 year old self, this is what I'd say: Stop looking for guidance outside yourself, you will find your path when you decide what you want, moment to moment. Meaning will come not only by discovering shapes and colors, but when you realize what you are capable of doing, and who you have become in the process. Seek growth by following your curiosity, and always approve of yourself. This is your adventure, so set your own rules. Bask in each moment, and let your mind slow down enough for you to enjoy being alive. This is it! Airwaves pendant. Handmade with 100% recycled sterling silver and amethyst. Available this Saturday in my One-Day sale in Mexico City. Join my mailing list to receive an invitation (link in profile). I will often make many versions of the same idea until I find one that satisfies me. Even with a simple form, like this pendant, there are many variables: the thickness of the metal, the surface texture, it's weight, the size of the holes, the way in which they are laid out, and the space between them. When all of these elements work well together, I fall in love Star-Studded pendant. Cast in 100% recycled sterling silver and nickel-free bronze. Available this Saturday, in my One-Day Sale in Mexico City. You are more beautiful than I imagined when I made you. The imperfections that occured when you were cast give you character and personality. When I touch you, I am transported to the the old churches in Oaxaca, with walls burnished smooth by centuries of passing hands. As I feel your weight, I am brought back to the present, only to twirl you around my finger and imagine the future. Ring of Substance. Cast in 100% recycled sterling silver, brass and nickel free bronze. Available next Saturday in my one-day sale. Sign up for my mailing list to receive an invitation. I know I procrastinate when my inner artist (who is about 5 years old) refuses to sit at her computer to finish her 55 Etsy listings, and instead plays around with metal clay and makes herself a ring. Clouds come floating into my life, no longer to carry rain or usher storm, Bronze Rain earrings. Soon in my online shop. |
