As I often do, I decided to make my own coins and turn them into rings. I plan to make a series carved in wax, but for my first rings, I forged and soldered layers of sterling silver sheet, then added chiseled texture.
I've fallen in love with ancient coins. They are miniature low relief sculptures worn down by touch and time. They embody a fragment of history, and represent people that breathed, loved, imagined and built. As I often do, I decided to make my own coins and turn them into rings. I plan to make a series carved in wax, but for my first rings, I forged and soldered layers of sterling silver sheet, then added chiseled texture. The Coin rings are now in my shop.
