This is the house where I grew up, in the mountains south of Mexico City. It was built by my father, who adapted two wooden cabins from Michoacán and added a central structure. My sister and I had bedrooms at one end, and my parents at the other. I was always afraid to go to bed at night, because I once saw a movie of a witch, and I was sure I’d see her when I climbed the steep steps to my room. We had dogs, cats, horses and chickens, and there were no neighbors in sight. It was a dusty and exiting childhood. I still dream I live there. Comments are closed.
